O-Ku Sushi coming to Jacksonville Beach

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group will launch a new sushi restaurant called O-Ku, announced this week. O-Ku is expected to open in early 2022 and is hiring for all positions. Located at 502 First St. North, the restaurant is across from the Jax Beach pier and will offer ocean views with rooftop dining and bar. The restaurant is approximately 4,400 square feet and can seat up to 165 guests. This will be the first restaurant by the group to open in Florida and the seventh O-Ku location. The Jacksonville Beach menu will offer an "innovative take on traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine." In addition, O-Ku’s menu provides a fresh and innovative take on traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine. #OkuJaxBeach will offer rare and unique dining options with sashimi and specialty rolls, sourcing seafood from the finest fish markets in Tokyo and Hawaii, alongside well-known local fisheries and other local purveyors. What is O-Ku? O-Ku is one of several award-winning restaurants offered by the nationally recognized The Indigo Road Hospitality Group (IRHG). Inspired by sister restaurants located in Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, and Washington DC, O-Ku’s menu provides a fresh and innovative take on traditional Japanese sushi and cuisine. It is a beautiful addition to the restaurant scene; instead of the typical dive bars and restaurants, Jacksonville Beach is upping its game to grow the culinary scene here. His smile, warm heart, and love of sharing the love by giving roses to people he met have people all over the community sharing memories with each other and his family. River City sat down with his daughter Tonya to talk about his history and the legacy he built by giving so much back to the community....

Otter’s on the Water to open at former Culinary Outfitters’ site in St. Augustine

A family-style, dog-friendly restaurant will open its doors at the former site of Culinary Outfitters, which recently announced its closure at the St. Augustine Shipyards. The restaurant will feature family-friendly waterfront dining. Rob DeGennaro and son Britt, who live in Vilano Beach, signed a lease and planned to open Otter's on the Water in the second week of October, Rob DeGennaro said on Thursday. "We're coming in with a whole new concept," he said.  He said that the casual waterfront restaurant would feature an extensive menu with "a little bit of everything," including burgers, salads, sandwiches, steaks, kinds of pasta, and lobster.  There will also be menus for dogs. "We'll have a whole section where people can bring their pets," he said.  The restaurant, located at 173 Shipyard Way in St. Augustine, will also feature live music, and space will be available for private events. Otter's on the Water will be similar to Nervous Nellie's in Fort Myers Beach, which they developed and sold, Rob DeGennaro said. The family also owns Otter's Waterfront Eatery in Maine and has held several other restaurants.  The team is hiring staff ― people can go to the building to apply, update the décor and launch a website and social media.  Rob DeGennaro said it's one of the best locations in town.  "Beautiful view out on the Water. You're next to the marina. People can come by boat if they'd like," he said....
