2020 and 2021 will be the year of the Hispanic consumer

September 15 to October 15 is National Hispanic American Heritage Month 2020 – 2021 will be the year of the Hispanic consumer. Marketers who invest in the Hispanic opportunity for the long run, secure upper management buy-in, partner with multicultural marketing experts (like Tridence), and leverage cultural intelligence to develop and execute a strategy to connect and reach U.S. Hispanic consumers will be rewarded with growth. Now that’s something to celebrate truly. If you are a marketer looking to grow your brand, repeat after me – $1.5 trillion – 212% growth – $1.5 trillion – 212% growth (Hispanic online Marketing). These figures alone should lead you to take a hard look at the Hispanic market to drive growth today. Right now, Hispanics account for one out of every six Americans and their aggregate buying power is larger than the GDP of Australia. “If you’re going to spend time and money marketing to this audience, you want to take the best approach to develop an authentic Humanizing Brand message,” CEO David Vega of Tridence. “You need to understand culture points and brand preference, why they purchase some products and not others.” In addition, marketers should not just translate English into Spanish and assume they have checked the box. Marketers that are spending to reach the audience for the first time must first build a relationship. This audience is the primary growth market in the U.S., and you can’t just have one message to all. Looking to grow within the Hispanic markets. RESTAURANTS ARE ON PACE TO LOSE $240B IN SALES THIS YEAR 2020

Restaurant sales fell 34% below normal levels in August after dropping $165 billion during the first five months of the pandemic, keeping the industry on pace to forgo $240 billion in sales during 2020 because of COVID-19, according to a just-released business update from the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Even with dining rooms partially reopened in most areas of the country, the industry is employing only 71% of its pre-pandemic workforce, with nearly 3 million former staff members still on the sidelines, the NRA found. Let’s all continue to pitch in and help #protectlocal restaurants in your area. The development of industry professionals remains a top priority, and we (Tridence) are proud to support the restaurant workers during this time of crisis.  Funding for the  Restaurant Employee Relief Fund comes from various sources, including personal donations, corporate partnerships, and proceeds from the Go Gourmet Dining and Virtual Event Series.  DONATE HERE...

Red Alert Restart campaign. What is it?

SEEING RED Chicago & Jacksonville? Hundreds of buildings across the country will be lit up for “Red Alert” tonight. Tridence is Supporting. What is it? The Red Alert Restart campaign focuses on urging Congress to pass an economic relief package for the struggling, theatres, live events, and entertainment industry. Nationwide, more than 1,500 venues in 35 cities will be illuminated red. All illuminations will begin at 9 p.m. est and will end at midnight. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the industry goes far beyond event venues, production companies, and event planners. Catering staff, decorators, riggers, stage laborers, entertainers even businesses located near event venues also have fallen victim to substantial financial and employment loss. More than 96 percent of live event companies have been forced to cut their staff, leaving 77 percent of people in the industry without any household income. About Red Alert Restart:Red Alert Restart is a passionate team of industry professionals, with a goal: To bring much-needed attention to the fact that we were the first to be shut down by COVID19 and will be the last to return. The organization is asking the public to support its mission and for government officials to adopt the RESTART Act and a continuous extension of the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, which provides additional funding to those who are currently out of work. Facebook changes terms of service – censorship

“Effective October 1, 2020, section 3.2 of our Terms of Service will be updated to include: “We also can remove or restrict access to your content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Facebook.” According to the notification, the change is to take place on October 1. Here’s the exact wording: Effective October 1, 2020, section 3.2 of our Terms of Service will be updated to include: “We also can remove or restrict access to your content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Facebook.” Immediately, reaction began to roll in on social media with users concerned the update amounts to online ‘censorship.’ Especially close to elections, it can look like Election interference. Is this a coincidence? But, The move could be linked to recent changes in Australia, where the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is preparing a bill that would require both Facebook and Google to compensate news outlets when stories are published on their respective platforms. If you’re looking for further clarification on what type of content can be removed, you’ll likely have to wait until the terms of service take effect next month. As noted, the changes to Facebook’s terms of service take effect from October 1, 2020....

Android’s ‘Nearby Share’ file sharing feature is launching

It only took Google nine years to catch up to AirDrop. Google is launching a new Android feature called “Nearby Share” that enables direct sharing between any device running Android 6 and up.  Nearby Share works very much like Apple’s AirDrop feature for the iPhone: you simply select the Nearby Share button on the share menu and then wait for a nearby phone to appear. Google says it’s even possible to “send and receive files anonymously.” This could potentially be an annoyance. Nearby Share works between Android phones and will work with Chromebooks “in the coming months,” but it can’t share to iOS devices, Macs, or Windows machines at this time. Plans are coming in future updates with no definitive time-line....

Lollapalooza is a bust as mayor Lightfoot hijacked political interviewing.

chicago: #Lolla2020 is a bust with mayor Lightfoot hijacking and making demands on guest interviews to remove anti-sentiments. As guest lineups express frustration in her city handling, she has been demanding to pull the acts of those dissent in the days’ lineups. Many considered the city’s actions and mayor tantamount to censorship—and at a moment when thousands of Chicagoans already feel the mayor is ignoring protests against police violence and racial injustice, this is striking a nerve with chicago and national music goers. In a statement, the Mayor launched the Boards of Change project to encourage participation in the Census and other civic engagement activities that promote and advance democracy for all. “The ‘Millennium Park at Home’ virtual concert series was created as a platform to showcase local music, support musicians, and engage audiences at this difficult time,” the statement continues, “however these City platforms should not be used for political purposes.”...
