Red Alert Restart campaign. What is it?

SEEING RED Chicago & Jacksonville? Hundreds of buildings across the country will be lit up for “Red Alert” tonight. Tridence is Supporting. What is it? The Red Alert Restart campaign focuses on urging Congress to pass an economic relief package for the struggling, theatres, live events, and entertainment industry. Nationwide, more than 1,500 venues in 35 cities will be illuminated red. All illuminations will begin at 9 p.m. est and will end at midnight. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the industry goes far beyond event venues, production companies, and event planners. Catering staff, decorators, riggers, stage laborers, entertainers even businesses located near event venues also have fallen victim to substantial financial and employment loss. More than 96 percent of live event companies have been forced to cut their staff, leaving 77 percent of people in the industry without any household income. About Red Alert Restart:Red Alert Restart is a passionate team of industry professionals, with a goal: To bring much-needed attention to the fact that we were the first to be shut down by COVID19 and will be the last to return. The organization is asking the public to support its mission and for government officials to adopt the RESTART Act and a continuous extension of the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, which provides additional funding to those who are currently out of work. Hastags: #SaveLiveEvents, #WeMakeEvents, #RedAlertRESTART #ExtendPUA....

Facebook changes terms of service – censorship

“Effective October 1, 2020, section 3.2 of our Terms of Service will be updated to include: “We also can remove or restrict access to your content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Facebook.” According to the notification, the change is to take place on October 1. Here’s the exact wording: Effective October 1, 2020, section 3.2 of our Terms of Service will be updated to include: “We also can remove or restrict access to your content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Facebook.” Immediately, reaction began to roll in on social media with users concerned the update amounts to online ‘censorship.’ Especially close to elections, it can look like Election interference. Is this a coincidence? But, The move could be linked to recent changes in Australia, where the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is preparing a bill that would require both Facebook and Google to compensate news outlets when stories are published on their respective platforms. If you’re looking for further clarification on what type of content can be removed, you’ll likely have to wait until the terms of service take effect next month. As noted, the changes to Facebook’s terms of service take effect from October 1, 2020....

Android’s ‘Nearby Share’ file sharing feature is launching

It only took Google nine years to catch up to AirDrop. Google is launching a new Android feature called “Nearby Share” that enables direct sharing between any device running Android 6 and up.  Nearby Share works very much like Apple’s AirDrop feature for the iPhone: you simply select the Nearby Share button on the share menu and then wait for a nearby phone to appear. Google says it’s even possible to “send and receive files anonymously.” This could potentially be an annoyance. Nearby Share works between Android phones and will work with Chromebooks “in the coming months,” but it can’t share to iOS devices, Macs, or Windows machines at this time. Plans are coming in future updates with no definitive time-line....

Google Play Music will start shutting down in September

Google Play Music will start shutting down in September. You have until December to back up or transfer your Play Music content. In addition to shutting down the Play Music streaming service, Google is also removing music from the Play Store entirely.  Google Play Music, which debuted in 2011, has been on the chopping block ever since Google decided to refocus its music streaming efforts on the YouTube brand. YouTube Music will take over completely from Play Music. The easiest way to save your Play Music content is to transfer it to YouTube Music. If YouTube Music isn’t to your liking, Google also supports downloading all your personal music via its Takeout tool. Whatever you choose, make sure to get it done by the end of 2020. ...

Lollapalooza is a bust as mayor Lightfoot hijacked political interviewing.

chicago: #Lolla2020 is a bust with mayor Lightfoot hijacking and making demands on guest interviews to remove anti-sentiments. As guest lineups express frustration in her city handling, she has been demanding to pull the acts of those dissent in the days’ lineups. Many considered the city’s actions and mayor tantamount to censorship—and at a moment when thousands of Chicagoans already feel the mayor is ignoring protests against police violence and racial injustice, this is striking a nerve with chicago and national music goers. In a statement, the Mayor launched the Boards of Change project to encourage participation in the Census and other civic engagement activities that promote and advance democracy for all. “The ‘Millennium Park at Home’ virtual concert series was created as a platform to showcase local music, support musicians, and engage audiences at this difficult time,” the statement continues, “however these City platforms should not be used for political purposes.”...

Universal Orlando has canceled Halloween Horror Nights for this year 2020.

Universal Orlando has canceled Halloween Horror Nights for this year.  The popular after-hours scare-fest, held for nearly three decades at Universal Studios theme park, is the latest event to be scrubbed by the coronavirus pandemic. In a letter to employees, Universal Orlando Resort president Bill Davis thanked them for their work that had already been underway for months. “For so many of us, HHN is a point of pride,” Davis wrote. “I have every confidence that our teams will adapt and direct their energies towards making HHN 2021 the ultimate homecoming of terror.”...

Disney World has closed a mask loophole, banning park visitors from eating and drinking while they walk

A new mandate at Disney World demands even more intrusive mask obedience, threatening visitors to leave the park if they walk around eating or drinking without a mask on. Disney World has closed a mask loophole, banning park visitors from eating and drinking while they walk as a means to force attendees to wear masks. “Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members,” reads Disney World’s official policy. “Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming.” The new policy instructs visitors exactly when and where they can eat. Visitors are only allowed to eat or drink if they stop and stand still, while consciously keeping 6 feet away from other people at all times. If they get caught, they are told to leave the park. If the visitor needs to catch his/her breath, they are sanctioned off to a “relaxation station” where they can take off their mask for a while. “Mask rule update. Disney has updated face-covering guidelines to say that guests may only remove masks when ACTIVELY eating and drinking, and must be stationary and physically distanced when doing so,” said writer Brooke McDonald in an Instagram post. “This means no more munching Mickey pretzels or sipping drinks as you stroll.” Disney is also specifying that guests cannot wear costume masks and that “use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.” It won’t be long before wearable sensors are required for entry, alerting individuals when they are too close to one another. People who do not believe in living under a mask will be excluded from society and threatened with trespassing, even though forcing something over someone’s face and that of their children’s face is trampling on an individual’s private medical decisions, personal beliefs, and civil liberties. Note: There is now a mask enforcement squad. While we’ve only seen designated mask enforcement Cast Members at EPCOT so far, we expect similar protocols to follow at the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs as well. In general, these rules will be modified across the board to close any loopholes that people have found. Also, forcing mask compliance at events and grocery stores adopting these same measures. You already see places using guards at the door or “health ambassadors” as Wal-Mart is doing. So, who is being conditioned and controlled? Disney is looking like the most unhappy place to be where dreams are squashed with authoritarian values....

Disney News: Rivers of Light Closed Forever, Confirmation of Primeval Whirl and Stitch’s Great Escape Permanent Closures

As reported in a memo to Cast Members, Disney has officially announced the closure of two attractions and a night-time light spectacular. Disney didn’t offer a reason for the decision yet; the most surprising of the closures is the permanent closure of Rivers of Light, the night-time spectacular at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Along with this are the permanent closures of Primeval Whirl and Stitch’s Great Escape. Stitch’s Great EscapeStitch’s Great Escape! opened in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom back in 2004.  Based on the 2002 film Lilo & Stitch, the attraction was a less scary replacement for the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter.Disney debuted Rivers of Light back in 2017. Like EPCOT’s Illuminations, it did not rely on Disney characters and intellectual property In 2019, Disney announced that it would add Disney characters to an updated copy of the show, called Rivers of Light: We Are One. Primeval WhirlPrimeval Whirl initially closed for maintenance issues late in 2019 but moved from a refurbishment status to a seasonal situation. At this time, Disney has released no information on what will replace these attractions....
