STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Today, Oct. 11, 2022, the National Park Services will offer tickets to go up into the crown of the Statue of Liberty. No visitors have been able to go up into the crown since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

The National Park Service said that access to the crown is limited, and tickets must be booked in advance. Those wanting to reach the crown will need to climb up 162 stairs. The Statue of Liberty is one of New York City’s most popular destinations, attracting 4.5 million visitors annually. The National Park Service employs more than 100 permanent workers at the statue.

Also, look at restricted items — bags of any size are not allowed in the crown, but lockers are available to rent.

Each ticket to the crown will include the ferry trip from either Liberty State Park in New Jersey or Battery Park in Manhattan. You will also receive access to the Fort Wood portion of the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal, the grounds at both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, audio tours of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty museum, as stated in the ticket details before purchase.

17 years old and under must be admitted with an adult over the age of 25.

This “soft opening” will offer limited tickets to the public for $24.30 for those ages 13 to 61, $18.30 for those over 62, and $12.30 for those ages 4 to 12. You can purchase tickets here.
