Jacksonville Restauranteur buys historic businesses

St. Augustine: Broker Jena Baker-Dennis of Great Expectations Realty announced that the 66 and 70 Hypolita St. lots had been sold for $3.95 million.

This recent sale has taken place at the site of one of St. Augustine's iconic restaurants/bars. The property was the location of Scarlett O' Hara's and Dos Gatos. Both businesses shut down last year, and the property was put on the market with a listed asking price of $4 million.

Note: The two parcels combined for 8,000 square feet with enough room for more than 150 seats.

The buyer, a Jacksonville restaurateur, was represented by Baker-Dennis, and Sammy Hale of Superior Real Estate represented the seller. The buyer (remaining to be hushed), for the time being, is already renovating the property in preparation for opening a new restaurant.

As we await more information, this is exciting news for Historic Downtown.
