New York City Soccer Club fans will no longer have to watch matches at Yankee Stadium because a brand new stadium is coming to Queens. The$780 million home for the club will have 25,000 seats.

The New York City Football Club has spent years searching for a home of its own. Mayor Eric Adams is expected to announce the plans for the stadium, which would have 25,000 seats. It would also be the first significant major league sports venue built in the city since 2012.

Officials say the New York City Soccer Club is paying an estimated $780 million to build the stadium. The project will also include a 250-room hotel and 2,500 housing units, which will be "the centerpiece of a giant mixed-use development that would transform a long-underutilized waterfront section of Queens.

NYC owns the land and will lease it to the NYCFC. The stadium will reportedly be finished in 2027.

Throughout the 49-year lease, the team "will ultimately pay rent of up to" $4M per year to lease the land for the stadium. The team will have the option for a 25-year extension.
