Since it\u2019s new, here\u2019s a quick look at what it is, why you want it, and how to use it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"relatedside\">\n<div>In short, this is a way to keep your Photos more organized\u2014it\u2019s really not that different than archiving emails in Gmail. You can archive photos that you don\u2019t want in your main stream, but still keep them stored online. They\u2019ll still show up in search, as well as in any albums you may have them in. It\u2019s simply a way to keep things clean and clutter-free in Google Photos.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"div-thetop1\"><\/div>\n<p>Using it is just as simple. This should work the same way on both Android and iOS.<\/p>\n<p>Go ahead and fire up Photos. To make sure you have the feature, pull open the left side menu, and look for \u201cArchive.\u201d You can tap it if you\u2019d like, but there won\u2019t be anything there since you likely haven\u2019t archived anything yet.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-310202\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/x1496762880-picsay.png.pagespeed.gp%2Bjp%2Bjw%2Bpj%2Bws%2Bjs%2Brj%2Brp%2Brw%2Bri%2Bcp%2Bmd.ic.bNmTruUtTt.png?resize=325%2C576&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"576\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>To start archiving photos you\u2019d like to keep out of your stream, go ahead and long-press one, then select any others you\u2019d like to add. Super simple.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve archived the first few photos, a new option should also appear under the Assistant tab that allows you to \u201cClear the Clutter.\u201d This may not show up immediately, but you should receive a notification when it\u2019s ready.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-310205\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/x1496763067-picsay.png.pagespeed.gp%2Bjp%2Bjw%2Bpj%2Bws%2Bjs%2Brj%2Brp%2Brw%2Bri%2Bcp%2Bmd.ic.cZcph0vrp7.png?resize=325%2C576&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"576\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Basically, this is a sort of \u201csmart\u201d archive feature that will pick things you may not want to keep in the main view\u2014screenshots, receipts, etc. Tap \u201cReview Suggestions\u201d to take a closer look.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-310208\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.howtogeek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/x1496763191-picsay.png.pagespeed.gp%2Bjp%2Bjw%2Bpj%2Bws%2Bjs%2Brj%2Brp%2Brw%2Bri%2Bcp%2Bmd.ic.nr3jD9PczS.png?resize=325%2C576&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"325\" height=\"576\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Everything is pre-selected and ready to be archived as soon as you open this view, but feel free to scroll through and make sure you\u2019re cool with all this stuff being hidden.
