It may have gone right over your head but Instagram released an update today that changes the experience for creators and users. This update really\u00a0shows that Instagram watches user\u2019s behavior and reacts appropriately.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-184 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/tridence.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/11\/instagramsnapshot.jpg?resize=640%2C367\" alt=\"instagramsnapshot\" width=\"640\" height=\"367\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>When you scroll through your news feed\u00a0you may notice that\u00a0descriptions do not fully display unless you expand by tapping \u2018more\u2019. Instagram is only allowing each post to display a limited number of text unless users want to read more.<\/p>\n<p>What does this mean for the creators?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have a smaller time frame to tell your story through text. Your audiences' attention will weigh more on the visual asset versus text. If most of your storytelling has been done using long form text, you\u2019ll now need to captivate your audience enough for them to want to read more.<\/li>\n<li>Hashtags can easily be hidden in your post. If you can tell a compelling\u00a0story in the collapsed view, there's an opportunity to\u00a0use thirty tags per post to extend the reach as far as possible for the expanded view.<\/li>\n<li>Instagram becomes more of what its original intentions were: Visually focused.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What does this mean for the user?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>User experience changes. News feed become less cluttered with hashtags and text heavy posts.<\/li>\n<li>Visual storytelling quality becomes better (hopefully) because it will over index vs. text.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Although this update seems small, it changes the experience for both parties.
