After some delays and pandemic slowdowns put things on hold, San Sebastian Winery owner Charles Cox is ready to go ahead with a major expansion at his St. Augustine operation.
Located right on King Street — the main corridor into the heart of St. Augustine — the winery will see its space almost double with the addition of a planned 17,000-square-foot building. It will include a rooftop bar, 150-seat restaurant, a coffee shop, and space for other vendors. The winery is a popular tourist attraction in St. Augustine, with more than 150,000 people coming through the doors in a typical year.
If he can get through the approval process as expected, he hopes to break ground in the first quarter of 2022. Once started, the build-out should take about a year.
